Requirements
JDX Audio is a small Windows program. Most computers that run Windows 10 or 11 can record with it; the trial is the way to check yours.
- Windows
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- Audio
- An audio interface with an ASIO® driver for the lowest latency, or any Windows output and input through WASAPI (Shared or Exclusive). No ASIO driver is needed.
- Sample rate
- Start at 48 kHz and a 128-sample buffer. Raise the buffer if you hear clicks; lower it if you hear a delay when you play.
- Plugins
- VST3 instruments and effects, from Common Files\VST3. VST2 is not supported.
- MIDI
- Any MIDI keyboard or controller Windows sees. Optional: Keys plays from the computer keyboard.
- Disk
- The installer is about 6 MB. Recordings need room in Documents\JDS, where projects are saved.
- Rights
- No admin rights. JDX Audio installs for your Windows user.
- Internet
- For the download and the licence only. Recording, editing and mixing work offline.
Not supported
- macOS and Linux.
- VST2 and AU plugins.
- 32-bit Windows.
Checking the load
The DSP meter on the right of the top bar shows how much of the computer the session uses. Options > Audio Settings > Worker threads gives the processing more CPU cores.
